Client:National Association of State Foresters
Capabilities:Web Design and Development, Website Maintenance
The National Association of State Foresters, a membership organization based in Washington, D.C., is comprised of 59 forestry agencies and professionals in every state and territory of the United States. They serve and support these professionals and the forestry industry as a whole through a variety of efforts which include fire control and prevention, conservation education, and policy development for natural resource management. With a growing desire to help the United States’ socioeconomic and political climate, NASF was looking for an agency that would take the brand to the next level. Throughout our work with NASF, we have assisted in the development of an agile digital and marketing strategy alongside advertising and PR campaigns ranging from 2011’s United Nations International Year of Forests to 2015’s Wildfire Campaign.
Throughout the seven years that Carousel30 and the National Association of State Foresters have been working together, we have collaboratively identified, evaluated, and optimized digital and advertising efforts year-over-year. With a more recent need identified during 2015 to redesign their website to align with industry best practices and assist their members more so than had been done before, NASF looked to Carousel30 for strategy as to how the website could be designed and developed to achieve new member engagement goals, as well as be implemented prior to their largest advertising campaign of the year a short 2 months later.
To meet the goals of NASF, Carousel30 devised a plan using the Drupal Content Management System which would provide a modern and simplified design, condensed structure, and easy-to-use navigation where members could gather resources as needed, and the public could learn about NASF and the organization’s priority initiatives in as little as a few clicks. In developing the design, a mobile responsive approach was taken to improve the user experience of those using the website not only in the office, but also in the field. In addition, through the creation of a Members-Only section that provides a library of robust resources, the website has become the one-stop shop for NASF members, policymakers, and environmentalists alike.
Shortly after launching the website, Carousel30 worked with NASF to develop the 2015 Wildfire Campaign through advertising efforts with The Hill, a top political publication in the Washington, DC area, which increased traffic to the website by 130% during the week of the campaign. Since then, we have designed SEO and website strategies which have increased NASF’s organic search traffic by roughly 24%. Through the redesigning of the website, Carousel30 has assisted NASF in creating a platform that follows an agile approach to website maintenance. With monthly website check-ins, updates, enhancements, and additions, the website’s importance in NASF’s strategy as a whole has continued to grow.
