International Franchise Association protects and promotes franchising. It connects franchisors, franchisees, and the vendors and suppliers who serve the industry. Through events, advocacy and a website that is geared towards making connections connecting members with one another, the organization is the leading franchise industry association. To continue building success and play a powerful role in this important type of entrepreneurship, the IFA required a website that could meet these organization’s mission.

The Carousel30 web design and development team worked with IFA to create a site for Franchise.org that met the organization’s mission and goals by building an Acquia Drupal hosting platform that provided stability, scalability, and a robust development and deployment environment that matched the flexibility and growth that International Franchise Association was seeing. IFA chose Carousel30 because of our experience with membership association website design, and our knowledge of brand and marketing strategy. Integration with IFA’s AMS/CRM provides membership capabilities, including the ability for members to publish content on their own profile pages. Furthermore, the entire website’s platform was created with a multi-site configuration, providing IFA the ability to host several distinct websites all on a single codebase, paving the way for more expansion and possibilities. Finally, a conversion to a mobile responsive platform was imperative, as IFA’s membership was following the overall trend of increased consumption of content on smartphones and tablet devices.

One of International Franchise Association’s goals was to provide sponsorship and advertising opportunities to its franchisor and supplier members. To meet this goal, Carousel30 set up opportunities utilizing Google’s DoubleClick platform, providing relevant ads throughout the site, targeted towards the primary audiences of various sections of the website.

Another key component of this is a tiered sponsorship platform that allows 3 different levels of placement on the website for its franchise and vendor members. This not only creates a clear incentive for sponsorships but makes it easy for the IFA staff to update and manage these different levels of advertising on the site.

Comparison Tool

A robust searching and comparison tool was introduced to help potential franchisees find franchise opportunities that are the best fit for them given an extensive set of search criteria. Borrowing a model from the used car buying world, the Carousel30 team created the ability to choose and compare up to five franchises and select either a quick comparison, or a more robust one that provides several more levels of detail. This provides site visitors with yet another way to get valuable information about an important business investment and is unique in the industry.
